The Longest Pilgrimage in Salta: They Will Walk 500 km to Reach the Miracle

The city of Salta is already living the time of the Miracle, one of the most important religious festivities in the province. From the enthronement of the Holy Images and the visit of schools to the Cathedral Basilica, the faithful prepare for the celebrations that culminate with the historic procession. In this context, the longest pilgrimage in the region will begin its journey next Sunday, September 1.

A journey of faith and sacrifice

The coordinator of the pilgrimage from Santa Victoria Oeste, Trinidad María Ángelo, explained that it is “the pilgrimage that walks the most,” as participants must face a journey of approximately 540 kilometers on foot. In statements to Profesional FM, Trinidad detailed that about 35 people depart from the town, but as the days go by, faithful from other Salta towns and even other provinces join.

According to the established schedule, the pilgrims will depart on Sunday, September 1, and arrive in the afternoon of the 13th, just on the eve of the Miracle procession. For almost two weeks, they will walk from 6 in the morning to 8 at night, facing long days under the sun and fatigue, but sustained by their faith.

Solidarity and tradition

The pilgrim confirmed that this display of faith has been carried out for years. In its beginnings, participants sold products to sustain themselves during the trip, but now they have adopted a common basket system and receive solidarity from the people of Salta. This help allows them to continue their journey without material worries, focused on the spiritual goal of reaching the Miracle.

The pilgrimage from Santa Victoria Oeste is not only an act of devotion but also a testimony to the unity and generosity of the Salta Catholic community. Each step brings the faithful closer to the Cathedral Basilica, where the Holy Images of the Lord and the Virgin of the Miracle await to be venerated in one of the most emblematic festivities of northwestern Argentina.
