Last Saturday, September 30, the faithful of Argamasilla de Alba participated in the procession of the Miraculous Virgin, an act of deep devotion that went through the streets of the Carmen church neighborhood. During the route, attendees prayed the Rosary, marking the beginning of October, traditionally dedicated to this Marian prayer and to missions, within the framework of DOMUND. The councilor for Culture, Tourism, Education and Protocol, María José Díaz, accompanied the devotees in this manifestation of faith.
Meaning of September 30 and devotion to the Rosary
The choice of September 30 for the procession was not accidental: this date marks the eve of the month of the Rosary, so the faithful wanted to anticipate the celebration with a public display of prayer. October 7, the day of Our Lady of the Rosary, is a key date in the Catholic calendar, commemorating the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. According to tradition, the Christian victory, despite being outnumbered, was attributed to the intercession of the Virgin Mary through the recitation of the Rosary. Since then, this day has become a day of thanksgiving and homage to the Mother of Jesus.
The Rosary as a spiritual tool
Throughout October, Catholics dedicate time to meditating on the mysteries of the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary through the Rosary. This practice, widespread in communities around the world, is considered a powerful spiritual tool that strengthens faith and personal reflection. The procession in Argamasilla de Alba was an example of how community prayer unites believers around the figure of Mary.
Priestly ordination of Martín Tébar
On the same September 30, in the cathedral of Ciudad Real, four deacons were ordained priests by Bishop Gerardo Melgar Viciosa. Among them was Martín Tébar Hernando, a 27-year-old native of Manzanares. Martín entered the Seminary after completing his higher studies in Computer Science, and during his formation he demonstrated a deep pastoral commitment. He spent his last year in the parish of Argamasilla de Alba, under the guidance of pastor Ángel Moreno, where he experienced a crucial moment for his spiritual and personal growth.
In addition to his time in this town, Martín Tébar collaborated in various communities: the parish of Villamayor de Calatrava, the Minor Seminary, the General Hospital of Ciudad Real, the parish of Santiago in the capital, Viso del Marqués and Moral de Calatrava. His dedication reflects a sincere desire to serve the Church and others. The community of Argamasilla de Alba now bids him farewell, grateful for his commitment and with the certainty that his priestly work will be fruitful in the mission entrusted to him.
