New Altar and Bench Dedicated to Carlo Acutis in Chacras de Coria

In Chacras de Coria, Luján de Cuyo, a small outdoor altar with the image of Saint Carlo Acutis was built, according to MDZ. The altar was placed in front of the chapel under construction dedicated to the saint and can already be visited by those who wish to come and pray. The news was published on September 14, 2026.

The outdoor altar was conceived as a meeting point for the faithful who wish to approach the site even while the temple remains under construction. There they can leave an offering, pray, make a petition, entrust themselves to Carlo Acutis, or simply give thanks. The image of the saint is placed on a stone totem that forms part of this new outdoor space.

In addition to this new space, a donation was also added, which was shared by the Instagram account of the San Carlo Acutis chapel. It is a bench that was placed diagonally to the altar, so that those who sit there can remain facing the image and, at the same time, observe the chapel that continues to rise behind it. The addition of the bench completes a small space designed for people to stay in the place.

The chapel was born out of the need for a larger space for the community of Chacras de Coria, and its construction began to take shape in 2021. In May of this year, the team of architects had told MDZ that the work was about 17% complete and that the project continued to depend on donations to sustain the work.

Context and relevance

The construction of the chapel dedicated to Saint Carlo Acutis in Chacras de Coria responds to the need for a larger space for the local community. The project, begun in 2021, is moving forward thanks to donations and, according to the team of architects, was 17% complete in May of this year. While the temple remains under construction, the addition of the outdoor altar and the bench allows the faithful to already have a specific place for prayer and gathering.

The new altar and the donated bench, publicized through the chapel’s Instagram account, offer visitors the possibility of pausing before the image of Carlo Acutis without waiting for construction to be completed. This outdoor space is presented as an area for leaving offerings, making petitions or giving thanks, and for the community of Chacras de Coria it represents one more step toward the realization of a place of prayer of its own.

The work continues to depend on donations to sustain the work, as indicated by the team of architects to MDZ. With the altar and the bench already installed, the site is beginning to have some of the elements typical of a place of prayer and gathering for the community, while awaiting the temple’s continued growth.
