A Tradition That Brings Generations Together
With deep devotion, inhabitants of Los Rastrojos and surrounding areas gathered this Holy Wednesday to accompany the procession of the image of Jesus Nazarene. The event, held after the Holy Eucharist at the Sagrada Familia parish – Archdiocesan Sanctuary of El Nazareno de Los Rastrojos, brought together faithful who shared testimonies of faith, gratitude, and petitions, demonstrating the vitality of this religious tradition.
Testimonies of Gratitude and Promises
Among the participants, Roraima Ulloa offered an emotional testimony. Before the image of the Sorrowful Virgin, she explained that her decision to walk the procession barefoot was a promise for the successful outcome of her daughter’s pregnancy. «At 70 years old, it’s my first grandchild and thanks to Him, he is already two months old,» she recounted with emotion, attributing this gift to the intercession of the Nazarene.
Family Commitment and Service
Eznaider Rivero participated as a bearer of the image, a service he performs with deep love. On this occasion, his motivation was intensified by his grandson’s health, expressing with joy his conviction: «The Nazarene is miraculous.» Together with his daughter, Rivero reaffirmed his commitment to transmit and keep faith alive within his family, considering the act of carrying the image an honor and an act of devotion.
Pilgrimage and Devotional Decision
Dilcia Giménez, a resident of Barquisimeto, highlighted that this was the second time she wore the Nazarene habit for the Holy Wednesday procession. Although she usually visits different parishes during Holy Week to accompany the Stations of the Cross, she expressed her determination that, from now on, this pilgrimage will always take place in Los Rastrojos, consolidating a special bond with this community and its tradition.
Living and Renewed Faith
The procession, which traveled through streets of the Palavecino municipality amid prayers and hymns, was once again confirmed not only as a cultural and religious heritage but as an expression of living and personal faith. Each step of the route was marked by individual stories of encounter with the divine, where devotion to the Nazarene stands as a spiritual pillar that transcends generations and is renewed in every testimony of gratitude and in every fervent petition.
