A gesture of faith and gratitude
During the celebrations in honor of the Virgin of the Valley, patron saint of Catamarca, a testimony was given that moved the community of the faithful. Fernanda, a woman from the province of Tucumán, appeared at the sanctuary of La Gruta wearing a cloak similar to that of the Marian image, as a public act of gratitude for having overcome breast cancer.
The beginning of a spiritual journey
According to local media reports, Fernanda was diagnosed with the disease on December 5, 2024. Moved by faith and anguish, two days later she embarked on a trip to Catamarca to entrust her health to the Virgin of the Valley, affectionately known as the "Morenita." She describes that first encounter as the starting point of an arduous process, but one sustained by deep hope.
The return with a relieved heart
Exactly one year after that first pilgrimage, Fernanda returned to the same place, but with transformative news: she is cured. With visible emotion, she shared her conviction that she had felt the spiritual companionship of the Virgin throughout her treatment and recovery. "The Virgin always accompanied me," she stated firmly, consolidating her personal experience as a testimony of faith for other devotees.
A symbol that transcends
The choice to wear a cloak similar to that of the image was not accidental. In Catholic tradition, such gestures symbolize identification, veneration, and devotion. Her presence thus became one of the highlights of the Marian day, recalling the continuing popularity of popular devotion and pilgrimages of gratitude, practices deeply rooted in northwestern Argentina.
