The Eden cinema in Puianello, in the province of Reggio Emilia, will host the screening of ‘In fondo alla salita’ this Saturday, presented as the first feature film to address the Marian apparitions of Medjugorje. The showing, scheduled for 3:30 PM, has a charitable nature, as the entire proceeds will be allocated to the missionary project that the local diocese supports in the Amazon region.
A Six-Year Cinematic Project
The making of this film is the result of extensive work spanning nearly six years. The movie recreates the events linked to the alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary that, according to believers, began in 1981 in the town of Medjugorje, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 23-year-old actor Emanuele Marzani, a native of Levizzano di Baiso, leads the main cast.
A Story of Conversion and Faith
The central plot follows the story of a young man immersed in a lifestyle marked by transgressions and addictions. His mother, a woman of deep religious faith, receives the devastating diagnosis of terminal cancer, with only a few days left to live. Faced with this situation, her last and most fervent wish is to guide her son away from the «vortex of suffering» caused by drugs, bringing him closer to the Catholic faith so that he can find, according to her beliefs, a full, happy, and joyful life.
A Message Aimed at New Generations
«We are happy to be able to bring an extraordinary film, awaited worldwide, to our Reggio region,» declared the protagonist, Emanuele Marzani. The actor emphasized that the film seeks to be «a key tool for reflecting on the meaning of life, against all forms of drugs and dependency.» Marzani highlighted that the feature film will narrate «through images and youthful language, the wonderful miracle of Medjugorje.»
Settings Between Italy and Bosnia
The production team carried out filming in multiple locations. In addition to shooting in the village of Medjugorje itself, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the cameras also captured scenes in various Italian provinces, including Bologna, Modena, and Reggio Emilia. This premiere in Puianello comes after the success of the national preview, which recently took place at the Corso cinema in Rivalta.
