Every December, as Mexico prepares to celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe, a television tradition comes to life: Las Mañanitas a la Virgen María. Among the artists who honor this tribute year after year is Lucero, who has been a constant presence in the early hours of December 12. For the actress and singer, this participation is not just an artistic ritual but an act of gratitude that renews her faith and confirms the spiritual connection that has always accompanied her.
A devotion that transcends the stage
Lucero is part of the roster of artists that Televisa has called for the 2025 broadcast. Her presence, however, has special meaning. As she herself has shared, the Virgin of Guadalupe is an essential presence in her life: “Every time I have a concert or a recording, what I do is ask the Virgin to give me the strength to communicate beautiful and joyful things. I entrust myself to her to guide me by the hand on stage or on the film or television set,” she stated in a conversation with Hallow, a platform dedicated to promoting the Catholic faith.
Her participation in Las Mañanitas is not recent: the performer has been lending her voice and emotion to this tribute for four decades, a continuity that reflects her personal commitment. Since 2023, the experience has taken on a special shine thanks to the inclusion of her daughter, Lucero Mijares, who will be by her side again this year. The singer has described that accompaniment as a spiritual gift: “Although I have not experienced a miracle firsthand, her presence in my life is a demonstration of faith. That I can be with the people I love and with my daughter is a constant miracle that has brought us many blessings.”
A song that comes from the heart
For Lucero, singing to the Virgin is a gesture that comes from the heart before vocal ability. Therefore, her preparation for this date is not technical or scenic, but emotional. The presence of Lucero Mijares has deepened that feeling even more, turning each performance into an intimate and family moment that, she assures, has become transcendental. Thus, rather than asking for something specific from the Guadalupana, the artist considers her annual participation a way to reciprocate the guidance she feels she receives throughout the year.
“The only thing I ask is to preserve the blessings she has given me, as well as the health of my children, the people close to me, my family, and everyone,” she has explained about what her song on December 12 represents. With that conviction, Lucero prepares once again to raise her voice in an act that blends faith, tradition, and gratitude.
Las Mañanitas a la Virgen will be broadcast on December 11 at 11:00 p.m. on Las Estrellas. This year, the cast will include Lucero, Carlos Rivera, Edith Márquez, Aída Cuevas, Daniela Romo, Valeria Cuevas, Alex Fernández, Guadalupe Pineda, Mariana Gurrola, Víctor García, Lucero Mijares, María Victoria, Ana Cirré, and Alexander Acha.
