Los Angeles becomes the setting for an innovative spiritual and cultural proposal. Since this month, Catholic parishioners in the United States will be able to experience ‘El Milagro de la Guadalupana, The Experience’, an immersive journey dedicated to the figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe, one of the most deeply rooted devotions among the Mexican and Latino community.
An interactive journey through history and faith
The exhibition, which opened its doors on the eve of the celebration of the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe (December 12), is designed to offer a multisensory experience. Mariano Domínguez, founder and director of the project, explained to EFE that the itinerant initiative seeks to bring the faithful the story of the original image venerated in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
The public will tour four rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology and large-format projections. There, the main episodes of the Guadalupe mystery are presented, as well as the social and political events of Mexico in which the Virgin has been present. In addition, the animated short film ‘El Taller del Chucho’ will be shown, complementing the visual narrative.
Communion and hope for the faithful
«The public will feel that they are truly in front of a sacred image,» said Domínguez, who stressed that the experience is designed to generate an atmosphere of spiritual communion. The last room offers a holographic projection of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego, one of the central moments of Mexican Catholic tradition.
The event, designed for the whole family, will remain in Los Angeles until January. Subsequently, it will begin a tour of cities with a Mexican and Guadalupan majority in California, as well as in other states such as Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. «With this, we want people who for any reason cannot go to Mexico to have the opportunity to get closer to the Virgin of Guadalupe and try to achieve closeness and the hope that she gives us,» Domínguez, who also serves as executive producer of the exhibition, pointed out.
Context of faith in the United States
According to data from the Pew Research Center, the United States has more than 70 million Catholics, a community that finds in this exhibition a bridge to strengthen their bond with one of the most beloved Marian figures. It is worth noting that, in a curious fact, a Mexican scientist recently discovered a melody encoded in the image of the Guadalupana, adding a new mystery to its already rich history.
