A ritual of comfort and hope
With a Mass celebrated in the parish of Lourdes in the Intersindical neighborhood, Monsignor Dante Bernacki kicked off the activities of the Miracle of the Sick 2025. The ceremony, which featured the pilgrim images of the Lord and the Virgin of the Miracle, brought together numerous devotees in an atmosphere of contemplation and faith.
The sacramental meaning of anointing
During his homily, Monsignor Bernacki invited those present to pray with devotion, recalling that the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament intended especially for those suffering from physical or spiritual illnesses. This rite, he explained, seeks blessing and sanctification through the grace of Jesus Christ, offering comfort and strength in times of difficulty.
A moment of deep community emotion
The celebration brought together people of all ages, including seniors and children with various ailments and mobility limitations. After the reading of the Gospel, the blessing of the oil and the administration of the sacrament proceeded. Father Oscar Ossola and three other religious assisted in the distribution of the anointing, walking through the pews and aisles where several faithful expressed intense spiritual emotion during the ritual.
Calendar of festivities
The celebrations will continue this Saturday with a Mass at 7:30 p.m., followed by a torchlight procession at 8:30 p.m. through the streets surrounding the temple. On Sunday, at 9:30 a.m., the pilgrim images will be bid farewell. The Milagro 2025 agenda includes specific events for children and young people on August 29 and 30, the tour of the images through neighborhoods in southeastern Salta beginning on September 4, the preparatory novena from September 6 to 14, and the main solemnities of the Virgin of the Miracle (September 13) and the Lord of the Miracle (September 15), the latter with the traditional Central Procession and renewal of the Pact of Fidelity.
