Relics of Carlo Acutis to Arrive in Paraná and Be Enshrined in a Parish

The relics of Carlo Acutis will arrive in Paraná next Thursday the 10th, coming from the Buenos Aires town of Chascomús. They will be received by religious communities of the Entre Ríos capital, according to Elonce.com.

The planned route includes first a stop at San Agustín parish. Subsequently, the relics will be transferred to Santo Domingo Savio parish, located in the southern area of Paraná, where they will finally be enshrined.

The arrival will have a particular significance for that community due to the devotion to the young Italian saint. The parish had previously had relics of Acutis, but they were stolen in July 2025. The incident generated strong repercussions among the faithful at the time, due to the religious significance they held for the community.

Context and relevance

Carlo Acutis is popularly known as “God’s influencer,” “the cyber apostle of the Eucharist,” or “the saint of the web.” He stood out for combining from a very young age two of his main interests: the Catholic faith and computing. He was born on May 3, 1991, in London, where his Italian parents were for work reasons, and later moved with his family to Milan. He died on October 12, 2006, at the age of 15, from fulminant leukemia.

Acutis had extensive knowledge of computing and used those tools to spread religious content. Among his most famous works is a virtual exhibition dedicated to documenting Eucharistic miracles recorded in various parts of the world.

His cause for beatification formally began in 2013. In July 2018, Pope Francis declared him venerable, a recognition granted by the Catholic Church as part of the process prior to beatification. Subsequently, a miracle attributed to his intercession was recognized. The case occurred in Brazil and involved a six-year-old boy who had suffered from a serious pancreatic anomaly since birth, and whose recovery was considered inexplicable.

Acutis’s figure gained special importance among young people because of the way he used the Internet and new technologies as tools for evangelization, a characteristic that led to him being mentioned even as a possible patron saint of the Internet.

Devotion to Carlo Acutis has a particular presence in the Santo Domingo Savio parish. There, not only were his relics venerated, but an educational project bearing his name also emerged. Within that community, the Instituto Carlo Acutis operates, a secondary school promoted by the parish located in the south of Paraná. By decree, the then archbishop of Paraná, Juan Alberto Puiggari, had appointed Alicia Teresa Carvoisier as legal representative and Sandra Mariela Chavepeyre as co-representative of the institution.

The arrival of the new relics of Carlo Acutis in Paraná, scheduled for Thursday the 10th, will thus have special significance for the Santo Domingo Savio community: it will occur just over a year after the theft of those that were in the parish and will once again allow the community to have relics of the young saint.
