An extraordinary event in Catholic tradition
On Friday night, approximately 20 faithful participating in a healing mass at the San Jerónimo parish in Coronda, Santa Fe province, witnessed a phenomenon they describe as miraculous: the image of Our Lady of Sorrows began to visibly weep around 10:30 p.m., immediately after the religious celebration had concluded.
The moment of discovery
According to those present, a girl in the choir was the first to notice the tears flowing from the face of the Marian image, immediately alerting the celebrating priests. Fathers Sergio Capocetti and Santiago, upon confirming the phenomenon, began a collective prayer that lasted for half an hour, while tears ran down the face, hands, and black mantle of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Testimonies from the faithful
Lili, one of the believers who witnessed the event, told local media: "We were deeply moved. What we experienced is something I never imagined. The Virgin chose this moment when we were all gathered together worshipping God to show her love for us, for the whole community." The witness added that the mantle was already damp when she approached to pray before the collective discovery, suggesting that the phenomenon may have begun before the parishioners noticed it.
Liturgical context and verification
The event took place during the monthly healing Mass celebrated in this parish, built in 1837 and considered one of the oldest churches in the province. The rite includes the laying on of hands on believers, who, after receiving the priestly blessing, experience what the community describes as a spiritual manifestation. Nancy, another witness to the event, highlighted the collective emotion and reverent silence that accompanied the moment, while the priests physically verified the moisture on the mantle of the image.
