A tradition that draws crowds
As every November 27, the date on which the Catholic Church commemorates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré, the annual pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal took place. Organizers described this year's event as "wonderful," highlighting an exceptionally high turnout of devotees.
Two paths, one faith
Father Fabián Gerez, pastor of the Capilla Del Carmen, explained the logistics of the day. "This year was very special because we were able to use the dirt road, something that is not always possible," he said. The main pilgrimage proceeded along the Camino Viejo a Tandil, while another large group opted for the highway. The priest highlighted the arrival of a large contingent from Vela, who traveled many kilometers on foot, joining other groups who made the pilgrimage along Route 226, on bicycles and in cars.
The solemnity of the Mass and a special intention
The central Eucharistic celebration took place at 7:30 in the morning, presided over by the bishop, which gave the religious ceremony a note of profound solemnity. However, the most emotional moment centered on the community and the health of one of its members. Father Gerez shared: "The day had a very special note because of the recovery of Simón Madrusan, the 19-year-old boy who is experiencing health problems. His parents and uncles were present… It was very moving to see how people accompany and pray for him." He added that devotion to the Virgin Mary offers comfort and tenderness in the midst of suffering.
Recognition of security efforts
Finally, the parish priest expressed his gratitude to all the institutions that collaborated to ensure the safe development of the pilgrimage. "I would like to give special thanks to the Traffic Police, the Gendarmerie, the toll booth staff, and all the volunteers who contributed to ensuring total safety," he said, recognizing the service and dedication of all those involved in the operation.
